I reconnected with why I write in the first place, who I write for, and a more sustainable practice that doesn’t run by any standards but my own.

Fernanda de Avila writes contemporary YA for Latinas who spend way too much time in their rooms. She lives in Guadalajara, Mexico with her partner and two dogs.

From reading Heather’s books I knew she was a master of the craft. From reading her newsletter and joining the Well, I knew about her focus on working with writers from the inside out.

She meets you where you’re at and helps you build from there. I went in with a shapeless draft and a whole bunch of self-doubt, and left with a clear understanding of what makes my writing unique, a revision plan, and a more consistent meditation and mindfulness practice.

Most importantly, I reconnected with why I write in the first place, who I write for, and a more sustainable practice that doesn’t run by any standards but my own.
